I have noticed that when I use the ruler on my ipod touch to predict timings and direction that the bearing doesnt align with that of the boat compass.
I had placed the ruler so that it just touched a tip of land at 231 degrees, however when I put 231 degrees into the compass for boat direction I was going to run aground at about 277 degrees.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Is this because of the curvature of the earth I was quite far north at the time, or an issue with the iphone app?

hi questorscout
I don't have an iPod and not the app, so I know only the game from the computer.
what I would do is to check the LS game with your Boat on the Computer and parallel do some checks on the App.
But hopefully another App user will be able to assist. |

Have to agree with you.
Towards the end of the last Friday race I used my ipod to check how I was finishing. I noticed I was going slower than I should have been. Since it was a straight run to the finish I cancelled the automatic mode and used the ruler to get the bearing to cross the line in the middle of the marks.
Using this bearing I set the angle for the boat to sail and was in around 320th place.
When I next checked I had missed the finish gate and ran aground. The race had finished and I was in 800+ place.
Very annoying, especially as I wasnt using the visual to sail but the bearing given by the ruler. |
