I have seen that I missed the what I need to Know now is do I have to go thru the other gates again as they validated as I passed when really they shouldn't so that you can pick up that a gate has been missed.

I am returning thru the whole in the wall to complete the race properly and hope I can do it in a timely fashion if I have to come thru gates 3 and 4 again I maybe a little while.

And Thank you Suratna you did a marvelous job of explaining it all to me and I understand perfectly. Even my husband thought I had gone through the gate I guess when you have so many doing it its hard to see.

But I owe you now to pay more attention and PDT_Aliboronz_24 PDT_Aliboronz_24 PDT_Aliboronz_24 my shout as they say down here.

Hallo Tulip Laughing

I go first for the beers Laughing Laughing Laughing

Ok your first question on gates #3 and #4 , well .............
that is too difficult for me, Embarassed Rolling Eyes
but I put the question into the developers team, and I trust they will have the answer right away Wink

So I like the beers and go for some more advice to you Laughing
a very easy test to check a correct passing of a gate/finish line, also when many boats blur the vision on the gate/finish line, is :
you click on My boat, to let all other boats dis-appear, like a sub can do that Laughing
then you check the color of the gate line
if you have to pass: it is GREEN
if you have passed correctly : it is RED and the next gate to be passed has coloured GREEN.
so you just keep crossing the green line, till it is blushing red Cool

HALLO TULIP

the advice from TeamLS is to continue the normal Japan tour and later they will have a special surprise for you.

I just see you are sailing north, that is not needed then anymore.

turn heading SW towards gate 5 as later you will feel the missed gate

Yup, Damn right I need help.... can one of the tech heads explain to me why My overall ranking has dropped from 42 to 85??? My position has imroved in the Austral, by 120 places, in the 2oceans by 10 places, 94th in the FR (which should of only cost me 2 places), started the Kiribati to watch the start, then quit, as I have no interest in completing it....
So where the %$*@ did I lose 43 places?????????? Answer please.

You should ask a superskipper...

Ok, bad joke.

Overall ranking = combined ranking over the 10 most recent races, including Kiribati.

This means the oldest race has been replaced by the kiribati (in which you earn no point)

Is this true if one enters but does not start a race?

Hallo Phil.

If you do not start in a race, you will score zero, "0", nada points.
The points in a new race are added at the moment of the start of the new race; so the total points scored may vary during the course of the race.

so if the last of the 10 races that were counting gave you 43 points, then..

Kiribati race starts , but if you are not sailing , it contributes 0 points
if last dropped race contributed 43 points; this is deducted on Kiri start

the total result is that your total points count reduced with 43 .

to my recollection are this the races counting at this very moment :
LIVESKIPPER RACES
ONLY 10 RACES USED IN OVERALL RANKING
Nu. RACE ..............................finish date.....start date
1 FMV Kiribati Rac ..............--/--/---- 07/11/2010
2 Austral Sprint ..............07/11/2010 31/10/2010
3 Japan Xtra Tour ..............24/10/2010 09/10/2010
4 Two Oceans Cruise ......06/11/2010 25/09/2010
5 NewYork-Bordeaux ......28/09/2010 20/09/2010
6 Italy-Cyprus-Gibraltar II.....19/09/2010 01/09/2010
7 Pacific Cruise ..............28/08/2010 10/08/2010
8 Austral Winter ..............14/08/2010 01/08/2010
9 African Coastal Tour .........12/08/2010 10/07/2010
10 West Coast Summer Race..25/07/2010 08/07/2010
finish date is for winner.

Number 11 that felt off yesterday was the
Conway Round Ireland Race 24/06/2010 20/06/2010

This is why the ranking is "normalized" to always fit a range between 1 and 1000.

It is the number of boats on the start line when the race starts.
I agree that it is not perfectly accurate, but it doesn't matter. Small variations would have little to no influence on the final calculation.

Those above 2 quotes disagree with each other because when some users register to a race after the official start time then the normalized ranking can be higher than 1000 ([pos-1]/[nb_boats-1] becomes > 1)

In addition, you state that it has little to no influence on the final calculation. I kinda of disagree with that. I did my own calculation using the total number of registered boats for the FRiday challenge and here are the results:
http://ranking.virtual-loup-de-mer.org/friday4.html

I believe LS should add a timeline up to when one can register for a race in addition to the time limit to complete the race. Then we'll be able to use the number of registerd boats for the calculations.

he normalized ranking is function of the number of skippers, when does the number stop to grow?

the numbers is the number at the time of the START of the race

( the number of players can even grow, but, it is not take for the normalized ranking )
