O'K Russ,
Everything is clear now . No more club boats. I respect this rule.
But my question is still the same:
Is there anybody else from LSYC who wants to win La Rubia Challenge? May be we should prefer cruising?
Russ gave the clear answer... But may be there are another ideas?
Best regards
Andrzej |

Cruising seems to be very nice .
Every day I can find some interesting races with Club members and another skippers.
But what about Challenge? We need more experienced skippers who are interested in FR racing. This is the point.
Best regards

| Andrzej, I share your frustration with the La Rubia Challenge. Unfortunately other commitments for the next couple of months mean that FRs are not much more than bouncing from one wreck to the next. It will be late September before I have both Friday and Saturday near the computer and can again hope to offer competition to other sailors in the FR. |

Dear Sowslo
I am NOT frustrated. Believe me. I have a lot of fun in every FR race.
Now I have some more weekends at home and I can spend more time in virtual races.
I see that some of teams are very exciting about La Rubia Chalenge.
And I am interested in opinion of LSYC Club Members about this Challenge. Nothing more.
Best regards
Andrzej |

As I said to Andy Earlier, ''I understand your Enthusiasm''....
We have lost one or two of our top skippers....And have a new one...
What Andy is asking is Who wants to try and win it? I think He deserves an answer from our members.... Russ |

Hi Andrzej
here is my opinion.
-Clubboat: tried it several times, but did not work. I will not sail a club-boat again.
-to win La Rubia: of course I like to participate and WIN. However, I do (or did) understand that La Rubica competition is made up of the results of boats from clubmembers (the firts 5 or 4 or whatever they make of it) in the FR races. This implies that no extra effort to be made other than winning the FR's; under that condition I was willing to participate.
-do I put extra effort in La Rubia: No, I sometimes look at the results if I am in the top 10 of the EF fleet.
-do I care whether other LS players use routers,or baby sitting: not at all, as I normally look only at the results of EF fleet (these boats are selected on Passion category nowadays) and Passion ranking list. That is also why I cannot take La Rubia too serious.
hope this gives a clear picture on what I think is La rubia |

I will throw my 2 cents into this also with my own "thoughts"...
Teams using routers, etc - I could not really care less one way or the other
I tend to agree on the club boat idea not being a great one. We raced one in a few races back a few years, and to me personally it is just difficult to do since we have very strong skippers and everyone has their own slightly different idea on routing and tactics. Every time I was at the helm I was always thinking about what everyone else wanted instead of racing my best - at least it felt that way
I have talked a few times about my own reasons for not being in the Friday races anymore and it really has to do with the state of the current player version. It has lost a lot of the precision and is just not something I am going to babysit during each wind and waypoint change to not lose time. If, or when, we get the precision of the old player back - I will be right back in every FR (I miss them) |

Good morning Skippers,
Thank you Ard, Russ and Bill for your opinions.
I like Ard's point of view. One man, one boat, no routers...
Don't you think that in this situation we shouldn't take part in La Rubia ranking as a Club?
Best regards
Andrzej
P.S. I am still thinking about a teamwork as a LSYC Flagship crew |

Good morning all.
I could'nt care less about being in the Rubia thing. I told Peris to remove my boat from the calculations, as I do not want to part of a challenge where other clubs play by different rules. If we were to have a vote, I would say withdraw LSYC completely from the challenge, but that's just me.
Andy, we abandoned the 'Flagship' concept for the reasons as pointed out by by Ard and Bill.....It was very difficult to get organized properly, although we did quite well, it always came down to the same 2 or 3 players to work the boat....Things could change with that, but it is a lot of work.... |

And by the way, Bliff you are missed in the FR's. Even with the imperfections, you always made a good showing and gave everyone a good run for their money...
If I was one of those top players, I would be very worried to hear that you were coming back...and I'm not just blowing wind up yer arse......... |

Hi Russ,
We have to consider dividing La Rubia Challenge to two categories: Passion and Open as in the LS ranking
But I am not sure that it is possible.
Best regards
Andrzej
PS. You can count on me in next Flagship race, if needed. |

I don't know Andy, I don't think the passion/open split would make any sense for that challenge.............
Flagships? unless we get a good show of enthusiasm from our members, it's a dead dog... We would need commited rota's, good communications etc... I would be happy to commit to it, but we need more than 2 of us and a good spread of time zones...
With the 'Holiday zone' coming up, it will be even more difficult.
Dream Team?
Ard, Bill, Daria, Golf, Andy, Barry, Ton, Pawel, Wim, Wayne, Gerry.
The rest of us just keep an eye open to make sure Windshifts and wrecking are looked after.... |
