As I have never used a 'pins' concept and find 10 marks more than meet my needs I think it best to stay out of the debate.

My opinion is completely different.
I've never used 10 marks to plan the route. Every 6 hours my plan should be modified. I have not so much time for such time-consuming work.

I used to use Marks in VRTool very often Laughing .
Marks help me to find the best route. Marks not depends on winds or my current heading etc. Marks are always visible on my map in the same place everyday.
I could mark not well visible islands on the big areas, or place a turning point as the beginning of proper way into the complicated archipelago or narrow strait etc.

May be it is not the end of this idea?
I don't mind that this is too difficult to make in LS software Laughing

Best regards
Andrzej

In addition to my previous post I want to say that actually I am trying to pass from Atlantic to Pacific north way, above the CANADA. There are thousands Exclamation of islands and barriers. There is a very big problem to find the proper route.
I will be very HAPPY Laughing to have some "pins" and even course lines which help me the way between archipelagos.
I ask the LS Team to give me the answer my question:
Is there any chance to have "pins" or "course lines" in the future of LS game?
Thank you in advance Laughing
Best regards
Andrzej

It is Marseille - Carthage Embarassed .
I am just coming back to North Atlantic and try to go North, around East cost of Greenland, approximately 10° Logitude.

I've found this way too late Embarassed .
Firstly I've passed thousands islands (downwind, between islands). But one evening I cannot find any idea how to reach Pacific Crying or Very sad . I am going back and then Arrow NORD.

Don't you think that during such adventure and regular races such tools like "pins" and (or) "course lines from point to point" should be very useful?

Best regards
Andy

Dear LS Team,
Our flagship LSYC takes part in historical around the world race.
All participants have an extraordinary route, not the same as "regular" participants. We have some gates which are not shown on the screen.

In this situation some "pins" will be very useful to mark the proper route on map.
It is not funny to search Mariannes archipelago on the wide ocean each time when we are looking for the best way to the next gate.

Is there any possibility to make some "pins"?
Thank you in advance, best regards
Andrzej

Andy, I suggested the idea to LS before and got no reply.
If our Flagship was a member, we would have 10 WP's available, and use the last one as a 'Marker' for distant gates.
My PayPal account was hacked last year and now I cannot create a new one. Twisted Evil
So I cannot make LSYC a member..... Rolling Eyes

Russ, I don't expect upgrading our LSYC flagship.
I want to tell that "pins" could be very useful for all participants Exclamation

I think that more and more arguments will make this idea a little stronger.
I expect that such great game as LS could be better and better.

Best regards
Andrzej

if I understand you correctly for what you want: a "pin" to be set on a fixed location. (coordinates to be entered, or by pointing hte mouse or moving an existing pin)

this "pin" is a dead opject, not related to winds, not related to your boats performance but just a "pin" to indicate the location the skipper choose.
correct. Question

and than for ease of sailing, you like to have 4 "pins" for standard LS skippers and 10 for the LS members Wink

Ard,
"Pin" should be exactly as you described.
In addition every player should have as much "pins" as possible (to mark a route... or whatever). I think that 10 - 12 "pins" is not bad quantity for first steps.
"Pins" should be different (by number, colour...) to mark properly gates etc.

Best regards
Andrzej

PS. May be our friends have more ideas.
I saw some interesting ideas in program VRTool.

Hello Very Happy

I've followed silently the discussion, but am very interested. Many thanks for the initiator of the thread and all participants Smile .

Ard, your definition of the "pins" is very accurate and could be the specification to be given to LS developers. Hope their ears are receptive and that we'll not wait for that the same time that for NW passage or opening of Suez Canal Sad .

Fair winds to you all.

Dear LS Team Laughing
May I ask you kindly if the "pins" are possible to make in our game?
I am sure that many skippers will be very glad to have a new, very useful tool.
What is your opinion in this matter?
Best regards
Andrzej (Andy)
