Incidentally, if anyone is interested, you can see videos and interviews on http://tvnz.co.nz/americas-cup in case you miss any of the "excitement" Rolling Eyes
You just have to put up with a short advert from the sponsors of Team NZ, Toyota.

jonny, the "excitement" is very limited so far on AC

during LV cup, of 15 games, only 4 games was with 2 boats, the rest was just training sessions, and I think the last 2 events none of the boats came to the "race" at all. Each games was over before the official start of the race, so that is about 4*2= 8 min of possible excitement.

during the semi finals, 2 races sofar, with again some 8 min of excitement, each lasting about 4 min only.
At least we have seen the first 2 passing movements during the races, be it that it was at or before the first Mark already; excitement over.

it is that boring.

except that today I read that Oracle is cheating the A.C. with unauthorized changes to their boat. The cheating Ellison should be banned from the sailing sport. read: http://sailinganarchy.com/2013/08/08/oracle-drops-out/

It would be better to stop, cancel the whole A.C. event.

Ard, I agree with all that you have said, except that the event should be cancelled. I have high hopes that NZ will win and this time retain the Cup for a long time. At least, with the Kiwi spirit and integrity, the racing will become fair and interesting again. Especially if the boats meet the specifications suggested by Bill and Damir Very Happy

I think we have already established that the AC is a Joke. As long as you are a super rich Meglomaniac, you own the series.

I would rather watch our YC boats knocking around the cans on a sunday from the beach in Eastbourne......

I like these realistic but critical stories on AC.

today I watch a youtube of the Redbull youth sailing races, also sailed in SF bay. 10 cats45, with 6 young lads between 18-24 fighting it out with their boats.
it is 1000 times more exciting as the big, dangerous, fragile AC72's .

wednesday is the last of this RB Youth sailing, and 2 NZ teams are in the lead after 6 of the 8 races.

btw, ORACLE has been punished as they were cheating on the AC45 boats, made some illegal modifications to the one-design boats. but only some "soldiers" got punish, but not the big shots, while I do not belief that this was the action of the soldiers only. These soldiers have taken the blame on them to safeguard the managers in Oracle and maybe of the Oracle Team itself.
