The wind is the crucial element for good Sailing performance and study of its forecasts can anticipate the favorable Routes on long distances.

In LiveSkipper, the wind is stable over periods of 3 hours. Every 3 hours, the winds are refreshed to take account of actual developments of winds over time. LiveSkipper offers wind forecasts in order to anticipate changes in the wind. Naturally, the longer the time period of the forecast, the greater the risk of deviations and inaccuracies.

The wind refreshing is every 3 hours as per this table:

Geographically, the wind(direction and speed) will vary constantly with its location, like in the real world. So while sailing, your boat will move into new locations with its own (maybe different) wind conditions.

Weather data is updated to the LiveSkipper server every 6 hours from NOAA. The LiveSkipper wind forecasts available in the game, will change when the new NOAA Grib file are available.

These new Weather data will however be activated only as the wind-conditions for your boat at the next standard 3hrs LiveSkipper update.
Wind forecast will be using the new weather data, however, as soon it is available in LiveSkipper, shortly after the update of NOAA is received, to give Players the time to study the new wind conditions before these become active in the game.

During this short time-interval, Players may see some differences between actual wind- and boat-speeds and those mentioned in the forecast and Polar Projections.
Note: Please be aware that for refreshing the NOAA winddata information, You do need to refresh the browser window, or close the LS race and re-open after the wind update has been finalised. Using the LS Game icon for Reload will only refresh the game to the next 3hrs windforecast but based on the previous wind data of NOAA.
