Hi Lascar69 ZEF thanks for the information.
Now I do understand your sailing passed Cape Town, as I first thought you lost your anchor to stop Your Boat at the end of Leg 1. We welcome you at the start of Leg 3 in Abu Dhabi.

Fifo , I have not a confirmed time, but some whispers in my ear did believe I heard the starting time Leg 2 should be 1600 gmt. Wait for confirmation in the official Race Instruction.

the Start location will be proposed as the start line used in the Cape Town Short Circuit race, i.e.
East of Start line coord: 33°55'30"S / 18°22'30"E --- 33°48'50"S / 18°22'30"E(W)
also this still to be confirmed , as Philippe made the maps last Leg and he might do it again for Leg 2 Rolling Eyes

b]East of Start line coord: 33°55'30"S / 18°22'30"E --- 33°48'50"S / 18°22'30"W [/b]

Question Question a mistake ...

thanks a lot Brigit47_FMV. Very good You noticed, you have concluded the TEST with good results Rolling Eyes
yes mistake this 2nd buoy sits also in the East section of this Globe
I guess the French language for West and East must have played with me Embarassed

start line :
East of Start line coord: 33°55'30"S / 18°22'30"E --- 33°48'50"S / 18°22'30"E

Offiicial R.I. to follow

Virtual Regatta site, start of the race is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. UTC

Fifo don't trust VR to much with timekeeping.

normally , as a pure French site, VR quotes all times in French local time, which by now is the French winter time, if I am correct Question

I like to use the one and only correct time-setting in UTC = GMT (for normal duties)

Hallo Beer loving Ocean Sailors

The 9Pack RoundtheWorld Sailing Race is soon to start the Leg 2 from Cape Town to AbuDhabi, with some challenging Marks, exclusion zones and narrow channels.

We will
Start 9Pack RoundtheWorld Race-Leg 2 in Cape Town, South Africa.
Starting Date: Wednesday 19 November 2014
Starting time: 16:00 GMT

Start location coordinates: East of Startline;
coord:S33°55'30" /E18°22'30" --- S33°48'50" /E18°22'30"

-We still have to use the "Privateer's Route Challenge" ;
The boat is than a IMOCA60

-South African exclusion zone.

the exclusion zone is made up of 3 Marks and 2 connecting line. You will have to sail South of these marks and lines, keeping all on your Port Side
African Mark: S25 58''00" E32 59'00"
Madagascar Mark:S25 36'00" E45 11'00"
Mauritius Mark: S20 16'00" E57 53'00"

-Finish in AbuDhabi

The finish line to be passed from East to West
coord: N24 06'30" E53 19'30" --- N24 15'30" E53 19'30"

To participate,
- Your Boat has to be in the harbour of Cape Town on the East side of the Starting line
-All finishers for Leg 1 will automatically be included in the participants list for Leg 2.
- Other boats present in Cape Town, better let their voice be heard, though our scouting crew might pick you up. check the TAB Etappe2/Leg2 in my google docs.

Please post this invitation also in the Spanish forum and French Forum.

Fair winds and Safe Sailing Laughing

Hi bouggla,

somewhere the scouting team had seen you around a time , but were unsure on your whereabouts,
actually you were in the Leg1 lists, but as you missed the Fernando Mark, you were handed a dsq. no worry, there are 8 more legs to compete and enjoy.

now we do know you, WELCOME consider yourself in the LEG 2 list of participants.

bouggla , I do appologize , I am sorry.

You did indeed with a safe margin pass Fernando de Noronha on the correct side.
Now I see why I did not include you in the ranking for Leg 1.
You sailed from the start, not to Alicante, nor to the alternative Gibraltar.

You sailed from the start via the Azoren islands, to the Mark and Cape Town. This is so much deviation from the R.I. route, that I thought it not proper to classify you.

But in Leg 2 you have all chances to improve and take revenge . Rolling Eyes

busy, busy , packing all stuff for another 20+ days till Abu Dhabi, maybe pack some drinks for a couple of days more. Drinks do anyway form a kind of problem with A.D. customs :rolls: ; maybe I should stock up till Sanya just in case A.D. is a dry dock Wink

looking at the Atlantic, I do see Ekranoplan CM and MacKiwi battling it out with the St. Helene High, but beiing still to the west of its centre , I fear both Boats will not be in time at the Starting line in Cape Town.
Will do some more scouting who is already in CapeTown and expected to start Leg2 in time.

wightcrusader seems to be struggling to find the C.T. finish line for Leg1, still sailing upanddown before the harbour. Remember Matt, that the proper start location is EAST of the Start line, that is about where the finish line was. Rolling Eyes
