Exclamation - Go to http://imageshack.us/.

Exclamation - Click on "Browse":

Exclamation - Pickup your image on your hard disk, and press OK:

Exclamation - Press "start Upload", and wait for the picture to be uploaded (it takes a few seconds to a few minutes):

Exclamation - When it is finished, you can see the URL of your image:

Exclamation - Your image is ready to be used in the forums!!!

Copy the url from the web browser into your post, and add the [IMG] marker.

My photo URL is:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bxVZ7GvshNg/SrKTJM7fBjI/AAAAAAAABjs/rks8aIzEVi8/s320/Trader+Mickey+2.jpg

I add [IMG] before the URL and [/IMG] at the end:
Code:
[IMG]http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bxVZ7GvshNg/SrKTJM7fBjI/AAAAAAAABjs/rks8aIzEVi8/s320/Trader+Mickey+2.jpg[/IMG]

AND VOILA !!

Very Clear explanation, can't miss Laughing The screen shot show exactly what to do.

I see that you do not even need to be registered to make good use of Imageshack Exclamation
I have registered and than you can park your pictures etc with Imageshack for easy usage in forums as well.

Ard, being registered, you can also decide hat image are public or private only visible for your authorized friends, directly on the imageshack site.
I prefer that sharing method to the so-called "social" network where it is so easy to gather personnal data on you and friends.
About these networks, the reviews about security are full of very surprising and interesting stories, all aiming to demonstrate our general ingenuity facing the actual technologic word.

Surely it would be much, much easier just to add an image upload facility directly to the Forum? What is the nescessity to make life more complicated than it needs to be?

Actually, no. This is not that easy.

The basics of putting an Image in a LS post
to include an image in your post, you do need a link of an image that sits somewhere on a public server. this link you put in between the [img] and [/img] codes and it will be incorporated.
see also wiki: http://www.liveskipper.com/wiki/doku.php?id=en:community:forum#contributing_in_the_forum

to get a link
you may get an image from e.g. Google images, http://images.google.com/
type sailing boat in search and you will get multiple thumbnails to see. Click one, mostly you will be redirected to the hosting site. Here is a "URL to forum" that gives the link ; a link has to start with http and finish with a jpg or png that indicates the image format.
put the link (http://www.boat-wallpapers.com/bulkupload/wallpapers/Sailing%20Boats/sailing-boat-at-sunset.jpg) between the codes, look with preview and enjoy your image.

or
http://imageshack.us/ ; in search type sailing boat and a lot of small image will show. click the one you like and click on it. a larger image will show with on right side screen, "Links to share this image" click it and copy the link from the "direct" window. paste it in your LS post being written and put the img codes around it ; make sure there is no space between the link and the codes.
or
most pictures on any internet site can be copy/pasted (check for copy right protected images )
with the mouse right button click on an image. click "Copy Image location". this link to be pasted in LS post in the making and put in between img codes.

Note: you may click on "quote" in this LS post on right top corner and you will see the exact spelling method of links and codes.

Making a screenshot
to make a screen shot you do need a 3rd party software.
I am using PrtScr ; PrintScreen for simple shots of the whole screen or parts of the screen. a screen shot is saved on your computer. It is free and you can find it here: http://www.fiastarta.com
for Screenshots with arrows or text I use in Chrome an add on called "Screen Capture", also free. this allows you to take a screen shot of the whole screen or part of and even an internet page, including the parts below the screen. It allows you then to edit with putting text or line or arrows in the image , save it to your computer or to get a share link.
There are many more screen capturing programs , just google "screen capture" or "sceen shot"

Once you have your screenshot, you have to put this on a server that is public and always on. Not too many people have such a server , but you can use free image hosting websites, Imageshack, Picasa, etc etc.

Posting your screenshot or other image on a public server.
see Help http://www.liveskipper.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3954
this is for Imageshack but there are many other photo hosting sites, I e.g. use also Picasa, but Microsoft live will also work, or a social network photo.

use http://photobucket.com/ for picture storage

note for self: I might have to make the wiki a little more detailed to explain screenshots as well.

And always Preview your post before Submitting as there can always be something wrong with the images .

if you have any questions, please ask.

Thanks for the Info Ard, but you are talking to someone who does'nt even know how to copy and paste Rolling Eyes
Remember the Google docs you used to create? All I had to do then was save an image to my PC and then 'Add image' to my post... That was very easy.. Very Happy

While it is very easy to link to any image on the internet, only do so for images for which you hold the copyright.

Linking to images where someone else owns the copyright is called hot-linking and is an infringement of copyright.

due to some repeated questions on screenshots and how to get your image into the LS Forum , I thought making a document that hopefully explains a lot maybe even enough.

see this pdf document and be surprised how easy it is, be it that it takes some effort Rolling Eyes

succes and let us all enjoy your most memorable moments, well Question
